Our passion lies in interventions within existing buildings – whether through adaptation, expansion, enhancement, or densification of the existing structure. We specialize in high-quality renovations, conversions, and refurbishments.

Every building carries a spatial and design predisposition, whether intentional or not.
We are firmly convinced that a building intervention can only unfold its potential when it is based on an understanding of the existing structure – not against it. We decode these qualities, refine and develop them further – and in doing so, breathe new beauty into existing buildings.

We have extensive experience and solid methodological expertise in working with existing buildings. Every project starts with a systematic survey: we measure and analyse the building fabric, clarify the legal framework and sound out the potential. We take note of the customer's needs and play through solution ideas in variants. We always work towards a result that is as open as possible.

We work – still uncommon in our industry – consistently in three dimensions within a virtual model. This allows us to refine the design quality, simplify cross-floor coordination processes, and provide our clients with clear control over the results.

The key to every intervention lies in precise geometric data of the existing structure. This is where renovation differs from new construction. We scan existing buildings with a 3D camera and create an accurate virtual twin of the object. In this model, we examine every intervention from the outset, in three dimensions and with centimeter precision. This minimizes assumptions and avoids unfortunate collisions – with reduced effort.

We focus on sustainable materials – not only for ecological but also for building physics and aesthetic reasons. For example, we often use clay instead of drywall, as clay regulates moisture levels better and causes significantly less CO2 during production. Another example: we prefer furniture or flooring with oiled wood surfaces over sealed wood because oiled wood patinates over time, while sealed wood cannot develop this natural aging. For wooden facades, we opt for mineral paints, as they are more environmentally friendly and their matte finish complements the natural character of the wood.

In addition to materials, color also plays a central role in our design approach. Historic facades and interiors from old town districts show how lively and diverse color schemes were in our buildings until well into the 20th century – and that "color" is often mistakenly equated with "bright" today. We develop our color concepts in close collaboration with Stéphanie Thioub, a certified color designer with a trained sense for color harmony and the precise placement of accents.

Building with us is last but not least also professional project management. We clarify interfaces and guide you through issues. We create clear specifications as the basis for transparent bid comparisons and solid contractor contracts. We are present on the construction site and guide the craftsmen in an appreciative manner by means of carefully prepared construction programmes. Clearly structured and always up-to-date construction accounting is also a matter of course for us.
