About us

Baumgartner + Partner | Architects was founded in 2016. We rely on the extensive experience of our team in the fields of renovation and transformation, placing great value on personalized and committed client care. Within our team, we foster a cooperative and consensus-driven work culture. Baumgartner + Partner is a member of the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects, as well as Casafair, the association for environmentally conscious and fair homeowners.

Team

Thomas Baumgartner Gsell

Thomas studied architecture at ETH Zurich and completed his internship at Miller & Maranta in Basel. In 2001, he graduated under Professor Andrea Deplazes.

After his studies, he worked as a project manager at Boltshauser Architekten before moving into industrial construction in 2007, where he spent over nine years designing and realizing production facilities for the food industry.

In 2016, he established his own practice and has since dedicated himself to preserving the built heritage and cultivating a careful, craft-oriented approach to architecture.

Thomas also serves on the boards of the Altstadt Brugg Cooperative and the rowing section of the Grasshopper Club Zurich, where he looks after the historic boathouse at Mythenquai.

Gisella Chacón Jo

Gisella studied architecture at the Bauhaus University Weimar, graduating in 2007 with a degree in civil engineering. After starting her career at AGPS Architecture Ltd., she moved to Stücheli Architekten in 2008 and then to Müller Sigrist in 2010, where she spent over eight years designing and realizing various projects. Her most significant work during this time was the new development for the Kalkbreite Cooperative.

Since April 2019, Gisella Chacón has been strengthening our team as a project manager with a focus on planning, and since 2025, she has been a partner.

Gisella speaks fluent Spanish and German.


Emina Rastoder

Emina completed her degree in Architecture at TU Dortmund in 2011 and gained experience as a project architect at Kleihues + Kleihues Architects in Dülmen. In 2014, she moved to Zurich to join Althammer Hochuli Architects.

Since January 2018, Emina has been part of our team, leading projects with a focus on execution. She is responsible for tendering contractor services and managing the project accounting for all our projects. Since spring 2019, she has been an associated partner.

Emina speaks fluent German and Sebro-Croatian.

Jaime Gil Simoes

Jaime graduated as an architect from the Universidad de Alcalà, Madrid, in 2014, with a specialization in heritage conservation. In 2010, he completed an exchange year at the TU Graz.

After a work placement in the Engadine, he moved to Switzerland in 2015, where he has lived ever since. Until 2016, he worked as a planning architect at Lehmann Springer Architekten in Rapperswil, and for another year at Falbriard Architekten in Zurich.

Jaime joined our team in the autumn of 2017. He works on projects from concept design to detailed planning and is responsible for our BIM management and CAD system.

Jaime speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese.

Lisa Stango

Lisa grew up in the United Kingdom and studied Architecture at the University of Cambridge, where she earned her Master's degree in 2004. She began her career at Cowper Griffith Architects in Cambridge, where she was promoted to Partner in 2012.

In 2013, Lisa relocated to Switzerland for family reasons. Until 2016, she was involved in the comprehensive renovation of the UBS headquarters at EM2N, followed by an initial family period. She then reentered the architecture field with ZSB Architekten before taking a second break in 2020. Since the summer of 2021, Lisa has been part of our team, bringing her extensive expertise to our projects as a project manager.

Lisa speaks fluent English, German and Italian.

Jessica Wälti

Jessica studied Architecture at ETH Zurich and completed her Master’s thesis under the guidance of Miroslav Šik.

She worked for several years at Ernst Niklaus Fausch Partner, where she discovered her passion for project realization. At the same time, she deepened her expertise in the planning and construction management of public buildings and earned a MAS in Construction Management (FHNW) alongside her work.

With her extensive practical experience, Jessica strengthens our team as a project manager, focusing on execution.

Larissa Hunger

Larissa supports us in administration and accounting. She originally studied Spanish language and literature at the University of Bern. After completing her studies, she began her career at Credit Suisse as a translation technologist and later moved to the mortgage center, where she quickly took on new and broader responsibilities. Her strength lies in quickly familiarizing herself with new topics and continuously expanding her support within the team – a skill she successfully brings to us as well.

Lisa speaks fluent Spanish, German and Italian.

Anouk Zaugg

Anouk joined us in the summer of 2024, bringing with her a freshly obtained qualification as a draftswoman specializing in architecture. She completed her apprenticeship at Manetsch Meyer Architects in Zurich. Anouk primarily supports us in execution planning.
